Ground ivy
The ground ivy, which is used for the Inizio hydrolate, is locally grown in Vorarlberg/Austria. It is harvested by hand between end of february and the beginning of mai on a sunny day after the dew has dried and when it is in full bloom. It will be always watersteam-destilled at the day of the harvest. To receive a balanced, harmonious aroma we use 80% tendrils and leafs and 20% blossoms, because the green parts of the plant contain the characteristic scent and include as well valuable ingredients.
Ground ivy-hydrolate smell spicy-herbaceous, a little bit tangy. As the German name „Gundermann“ indicates – „Gund“ means pus – since the middle ages groundy ivy was used in the case of poorly healing wounds. Whenever pus, phlegm or toxic substances should be flushed out of the body, ground ivy was used. Even today ground ivy is used to flush out toxic substances as well as to treat blemished or oily skin, pimpels or pustules. Ground ivy is also nowadays said to have wound-healing properties.

Pure water
The water, which is used for the production of hydrolates, is pure and untreated water from the ground water fields in the foreshore of the Rhine. The Lustenauer drinking water needs no treatment, because it is water of the very best quality. Through the process of destillation pure hydrolat is formed.
