Meadowsweet
The meadowsweet, which is used for the Inizio hydrolate, is locally grown in Vorarlberg/Austria. It is harvested by hand between june and end of september when it is in full bloom during a period of bright sunshine around midday. It will be always watersteam-destilled at the day of the harvest. To receive a balanced, harmonious aroma we use only bloom shoots.
Meadowsweet-hydrolate smells tangy-sweet and a little bit like bitter almonds. Like the bark of a willow meadowsweet contains salicylic acid. The drug „Aspirin“ got his name from meadowsweet, which once was called „Spiraea ulmaria“. So meadowsweet is still today used in case of chronic headache. Because of its sudorific, anti-inflammatory effects the Commission E endorse the supporting care with meadowsweet in case of colds. Meadowsweet is also often recommended in case of inpure skin or to perfume foods and beverages.

Pure water
The water, which is used for the production of hydrolates, is pure and untreated water from the ground water fields in the foreshore of the Rhine. The Lustenauer drinking water needs no treatment, because it is water of the very best quality. Through the process of destillation pure hydrolat is formed.
