Black elder
The black elder, which is used for the Inizio hydrolate, is locally grown in Vorarlberg/Austria. It is harvested by hand between end of april and the mid of june on a sunny day around midday and when it is in full bloom. It will be always watersteam-destilled at the day of the harvest. To receive a balanced, harmonious aroma we use only blossoms.
Black-elder-hydrolat smells tangy-sweet, flowery and aromatic. Many legends are existing around this magic bush. The folk (traditional) medicine knows black elder mainly for its sudorific and diuretic effect. The natural cosmetics uses black elder blossoms to produce deodorants, after shaves, skin creams and eye care products. It's estimated especially for its flowery, aromatic scent, but also for its skin soothing, balancing and anti oxidating effect. Therefore the hydrolate is often used in the case of stressed, inflamend skin, pimples or blemishes. The anti oxidating, refreshing effect of the black elder blossom extract is appreciated for skin care around the eyes and to prevent wrinkles. Another wonderful application is to use black elder hydrolate for prevent or reduce pigmentation marks and freckles. Pure water
The water, which is used for the production of hydrolates, is pure and untreated water from the ground water fields in the foreshore of the Rhine. The Lustenauer drinking water needs no treatment, because it is water of the very best quality. Through the process of destillation pure hydrolat is formed.
